The Outsiders

Hello Dear Friends! I am happy to be finally doing a real outfit post. It feels like it has been forever since I have gone out and really documented an outfit. I am going to try to document as many outfits outside as possible until the snow comes in about a month.

The jersey dress is Old Navy, blazer is thrifted, belt is Le chateau and the sunglasses are Old Navy.

I felt very urban chic in this outfit, and I felt very out of place wearing it. This town is a vortex for good style sense. Everyone here, even people who just moved here  are all dressed in jeans and hoodies. I have never seen anything like it, from toddlers to the elderly they are all wearing the same thing. I mean, I don’t care, where what you like, but it’s hard to believe that everyone in this town likes to wear the same thing. But I do care that everyone in this town stares, points and whispers about me. It is a little frustrating. But I am going to keep wearing what I feel best in.

I am not the only one who stands out here, my Hubster also sticks out like a sore thumb. He was wearing a tie the other day and a kid came up to him pointed to the tie and asked “What’s that?”. Very strange and very funny and very cute.

Here he is looking like the perfect outsider in a Joe baseball shirt, For Him U.K. leather jacket, Old navy jeans and sunglasses.

Do you guys ever feel pressure to dress down in a jeans and t-shirt world? How did you deal with it?

much love.

A Betsey Johnson DIY Tote

Hello dears! I still don’t have Internet full time, but I hope to have it some time this week. Also, Tumblr has given me back my comments but is refusing to give me back my theme. So, I am going to try to do a full overhaul of my layout. If you have any suggestions feel free to shoot me an email.
Now for the fun stuff. This is my first DIY in a month, so I am pretty excited and I hope everyone likes it.

This is a Betsey Johnson inspired tote bag. I love her designs, they are so colorful, fun and youthful. They always make a statement and bring a great punch to any outfit. I love her “Fancy Face” tote but this item is discontinued plus as many unemployed can understand I just can’t afford it (sorry Betsey!). So, I whipped one up on my own.

image

Supplies —> Tote bag (I painted mine a colorful blue, but that is optional), red felt, black fringe, scissors, hot glue and black puff paint.

image

Step 1 —> Draw some lips on a piece of paper until you get the shape you like. Then place the paper lips on the felt and cut around them.

image

Step 2—> Glue your red felt lips on the tote in the center near the bottom.

image

Step 3—> Take your black fringe, measure to equal pieces and cut. Glue them down on the tote in crescent shapes.

Step 4—>
Take your puff paint and place small dots along the top of the fringe. Allow to dry.

image

Fill it up and take it out. You will definitely feel fancier.

I have been missing everyone, and I hope to get a good internet connection soon that will be fast enough that I will be able to load and look at your blogs!
Much Love.

I'm Back, Kinda...

Hello My Long Lost Friends! The Hubster and I arrived at our new home a couple of weeks ago after a long and trecherous journey. It has been a really difficult transition and I have so many thoughts on this new place fashion related and not. But for now I thought I would just do a nice normal outfit post, well sorta. I may be short on photos and the quality may be really low. This is because I don’t have internet of my own and just found an unsecure wireless to use. And the internet is so slow up here because it is so isolated. Living in the North is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

This is a great and versatile orangy/red dress that I got at H&M. The belt is thrifted and the jean jacket is from high school. I have been wearing this jean jacket a lot this season, especially since we moved because it is chilly here.

image

This is a great little hat a made last week, I am loving the fall colors already. It is such a romantic season.

I got this beautiful envelope clutch at the thrift store, it was made in brazil and real leather. It was an awesome find for $3! The jewelry is all thrifted too.

I am so sorry for my long absence and I apologize again if it is a week before I can post again. I promise to sort this all out soon and I am so grateful for everyone sticking with me.

much love.

Just a Little Bit Longer

Hello Friends! I am so sorry for my long absence and I am so sorry that it is going to be a little while longer before I can return to my lovely blog that I have missed so much. I appreciate your pateince in this matter.
If you were wondering what is going on here is the skinny on the situation. My Hubster is a teacher, but the market in my part of the world is really over saturated in teachers. We just live in a tiny city and there are 450 teachers on the supply list. So he wasn’t getting much work, so we made the decision to try to look for work elsewhere. Well, last Tuesday we finally found some. We are moving!!! This is very exciting but we only had 10 days in which to pack up all of our stuff and go.

image

So, here I am surrounded by boxes. Trying to get everything together and all set up to move. It has been a really difficult last few weeks, and I am looking forward to settling into the new place and having some quiet time to work on my DIYs. You can follow me on twitter if you want to hear about my journey and when I will be returning to blogging regularly.
Oh! I forgot to mention why this is all so rushed and challenging. My Hubster and I are moving to an isolated area in Northern Quebec, Canada. There is a road that you can drive there but they don’t reccomend it. So we had to have are stuff shipped ahead of us and we are taking a couple of planes on Saturday to get there. I am not sure what this big move will mean for my lil blog. The culture is much different there and I imagine due to the freezing tempuratures it will mean a change in dress code. This is all very exciting and scary. I will be back in business hopefully sometime next week, until then I thank you again for all the kind words and encouragment. You can follow me on twitter or email me  (all info on sidebar) anytime I promise to be as quick as possible in responding.

much love.
