C’mon Barbie Let’s Go Party

I love shoes. It would be like a dream come true to be able to wear more than one pair at a time, I never thought that day would come though.

When I saw these Mary Jane inspired necklaces I knew I had a DIY coming on and a dream come true in the making. I thought I could use some old barbie shoes to make earrings.

Supplies—> A pair of old barbie shoes (or you could pick some up at the dollar store), gold paint, jump rings, metal chain and earrings. Also, you’ll need pliers, a knife or scissors, and a paint brush.

Step 1—> Cut a small hole in the back of the shoes, just enough for a jump ring to slide through. You’ll need to measure out the chains too, make sure they are an appropriate length for your neck.

Step 2—> Paint the shoes gold. Now, I first attempted to spray paint them but it didn’t work cause the plastic was too slick. I ended up using some acrylic paint, but I think the metallic sharpie would have worked well. You’ll need to give them a couple of coats. Be patient and don’t glob it on. You might want to paint the chains and earrings so all the gold matches.
