DIY: Glitter & Gold Statement Ring

I can’t believe it’s been 5 months since I posted a tutorial! That’s really appalling, and I am very sorry. So, without further adieu here is a DIY for a sparkly, glittery, shiny statement ring.

Supplies—> White polymer clay, clay glaze, a ring back, paint brush, gold spray paint, small round cookie cutter, jewelry glue, fine glitter and something to create a shape in the clay like a sunburst or triangle or flower.

Step 1—> Roll out your clay until it’s around a quarter inch thick. Then use a small cookie cutter to cut out a circle. However, you can cut out any shape you want to like a square or oval.
Side note: you should probably work on wax paper and not your table top

Step 2—> Make a shape in the center of your clay. Use a pin or another circle or whatever you feel like. I used a triangle pin, and I went around the edge of the circle of clay pushing it in so it made a star burst depression. Just make sure there is enough of a groove to put the glitter in.
Step 3—> Bake according to the directions on your clay’s packaging. Then allow to cool.

Step 4—> Spray paint. I use an 18 kt. gold spray paint (only 5 bucks at the hardware store), I find it always results in a flawless finish…and it’s so shiny.
Allow to dry

Step 5—> Pour glitter into the star burst depression. Make sure you add a black and white glitter to your mixture of colors, I find it helps balance it out and give it dimension.
Step 6 —> Mix your glaze with a little water so it isn’t very thick. Take your paint brush and brush the glaze on, go slowly so you don’t end up with a big clump of glitter. Allow to dry.
Step 7—> Glue your ring onto the back.

Once the glue dries, all that’s left is to put it on and style it up.
I know this project takes a while due to all the dry times, but I swear it is worth it.
much love.
