R.I.P My Dear Friend

I’m sorry for the unexpected silence here, but we’ve suffered a great loss in our tiny family. Our dear cat Felix died suddenly and unexpectedly one morning this week. I wrote a little eulogy for him.
Dear Felix,
I never liked cats and frankly I still don’t, not really. But you, you were so different. I remember when I first saw your bright lime eyes in the shelter, and remember how you jumped down from your hiding place to greet me and showed me your fluffy belly. I also remember what rough shape you were in with your frost bitten toes, skinny body, cut up ears, forked tongue and broken teeth. I couldn’t wait to take you home and show you how good life could be and I promised to give you the best life. I hope I did a good job, because you certainly gave me the best love. You were always there to greet me at the door, snuggle close at bed time, keep me company while I worked, and run to me when I was sad. I’m so sad now and you’re not here to help.
I’m not sure what our little misfit family is going to do without it’s starring member. We’re three now, so small and fighting against the whole world is so much harder without you, you were the bravest. The house is so quite without your odd cheerful chirps and the arm of the my chair is so empty without you. I can’t even tell you how much we miss you and how we’ll miss you forever. I just want to thank you for spending time with us here on Misfit Isle, for us loving us despite all our shortcomings and giving us the greatest adventure in knowing you.
I hope you know how much I love you. I hope you know I will love you forever my little orange friend, my Lixer, my kitten, my first husband, my Felix. Goodbye.
Much love.
