My Summer Style Guide- How to Stay Safe

I know what you are thinking, it’s sweltering out and you’ve got a long sleeve shirt on? I get this a lot, people asking me why on some of the hottest days of the year I am still wearing a cardi. Well the answer is simple, Sun Protection. I have what you call alabaster skin, or what hubster calls ghostly (charming, eh?). I do put on sun screen everyday too and try to re apply at multiple times during the day but sometimes it’s just not enough. Especially now they are saying that you need higher and higher SPF because the amount you are actually putting on only equals to half the SPF on the bottle. I wear SPF 100 everyday, so I have an SPF coverage of 50. But my skin is so sensitive to the sun; actually in early May at 8 in the morning I went outside to have my coffee and after ten minutes of my bare feet in the sun they burnt so bad they blistered. It’s a real problem for me and I know because of my skin color I am at a high risk for skin cancer. So even though sometimes it’s a little too warm you can still be stylish in long sleeves in the summer and for me it is a necessity. But I hope for all you with less sensitive skin that you are still applying the sun screen!

Long Days

I have been working way longer hours the last couple of week (whiner, I know!) which has taken a serious toll on my ability to enjoy putting together outfits and has taken my creativity out of my outfits too. But thankfully my work place does not have a dress code, so I just threw on my favorite dress, cute flats and a cardi (not shown) and went about my day.

Dress- Modcloth (Out of Stock)
Shoes- Old Navy (Out of Stock)
Sunnies- Old Navy (old)
Ring- H&M (old)

Look at my poor red feet from working all day in uncomfortable shoes, oops!
Do you guys ever feel your style suffers when you get busy at work? Or does picking out awesome outfits help when the work load piles up?
I hope you guys are having a good week.
much love.

FAKER

These photos are a lie. By the way I am dressed it would look like I am enjoying some warm weather because I have no socks or tights on, no sweater or scarf. This is all a lie. It is still in the negatives most days, and there is an abundance of snow on the ground. But yesterday I felt like dressing as if it were spring in my part of the world too. So two minutes after I took these photos I had to put tights on because I had goosebumps.
I really love this outfit, I love the denim, gray and orange altogether, I think it is a lovely combo. So lovely I have barely taken it off, even if a jersey dress isn’t the most flattering.

Dress + Jean Jacket- Old Navy
Ring- Gift
Necklace- DIY

I really wanted a new colorful piece to wear with my orange dress so I whipped this up earlier this week. What do you guys think? I thought about making some in different colors for my shop.

Tada! You made it to the end of my post, thanks for sticking with me even though these photos are fakes.
Happy Long Weekend.
Much love.
Meant To Be

Have you ever felt like a piece of clothing was made for you? Like a designer somewhere was imagining your body when they were making an item? That’s how I feel about this coat. A neighbor of mine had this old coat laying around and thought I could use the fabric for my shop. I went to take the lining out of the coat to make a hat with it, but instead I tried it on. I couldn’t believe it, it fits like a dream. I have never worn a coat that actually slimmed me down but this one does (if I do say so myself). Which is really nice considering I haven’t shed my holiday pounds yet…or the pounds I had intended to shed before that…

A Rare Opportunity

I was lucky today because it was an unseasonably warm out today only -17 degrees Celsius, compared to the typical -35 it has been lately. So I hopped at this chance and took some photos outside, which we all know look a hundred times better than inside photos. Sadly, most of my photos from here on out will be unflattering inside photos.

This outfit was brought to you by: Dress Suzy Shier, Boots Gift, Sunnies Old Navy, Coat Majora and Seal Skin Gloves by a local woman.

This is not my usual winter coat because frankly it is not warm enough, but on these sunny days I do enjoy taking it out for a spin. It has the most versatile and unusual collar/hood thing. Plus, I am really loving the all black in winter time because I feel it shows off my alabaster skin (yes alabaster, not pasty pale).
much love.
P.S. Later this week the Hubster has agreed to do an outfit post with his classy but warm outdoor gear.
It Takes Two When It Use To Take One

Hello Beauties! I know you are probably sick of hearing my wedding anniversary but this is the last post on the subject I swear! I convinced the Hubster to do an outfit post with me before our big date. It was probably my favorite shoot and I think it turned out the best.

Hubster is wearing a vest from RW&Co, Bluenotes jeans, and a shirt from a discount store in the mall. I am wearing a thrifted skirt from Lovely Betty’s (local thrift shop), a belt from Le Chateau, and DIY earrings.

I bought this maxi skirt a couple of weeks ago at a thrift shop, but I haven’t really figured out how to style it. I am just not sure what shirt to pair it with, everything makes me look too conservative. But I really wanted to wear it, so I pulled it up, belted it and wore it as a dress. I really love how it looks though, I love the layers they are so whimsical. And, to my surprise, it stayed up really well.

I really love this shot, it looks like the album cover to a folk duo album. <3
I hope to finish a new DIY for tomorrow, so stay tuned.
much love.
