These Boots

So, it’s been snowing like crazy the last couple of days. We are totally back in the winter land again. Which is cool, I love the snow and it’s super pretty. BUT I am so sick of gearing up each day to go outside. I am really sick of putting on these boots everyday. They are really nice boots, but I only have one pair of boots so it means the same thing everyday. It’s a little sad and tedious, but they do keep my feet toasty and dry.So I’ll get over it. I promise.

Coat- Smart Set
Scarf- Gift
Hat- Chisasibi Town Freebie
Gloves- Ralph Lauren
Boots-Gift
Dress- Old Navy

I’ll be trying my best to embrace the winter and enjoy the glorious and beautiful snow! It is a lot of fun to play in!!

Happy Hump Day!

much love.

Chickens Wings Recipe

So, I was all set to do a lovely outfit post and then…

…this happened. Can you believe it? Needless to say I am a little disappointed. Plus it’s preventing me from showing you my snazzy outfit because after walking home in this my mascara was halfway down my cheeks and my hair deflated.

Instead I’m going to share my recipe for baked chicken wings!

You’ll Need

  • Chicken Wings
  • Olive Oil
  • Spices

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees, and line a cookie sheet with tin foil.
Wash your chicken off thoroughly and put them in a bowl. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken wings. Pour your spices over the wings and mix’em up.

Now onto the spices; here are some combinations I use:
Salt, Pepper and Garlic salt
Chilli flakes, Sea Salt and Pepper
Paprika, cumin, red pepper, corinader, black pepper and cardamom

Once the wings are fully coated, I mean coated, pop’em in the oven for 50 minutes.

I totally recommend these because they are baked and don’t have a bread coating. And they are especially fun on a date night because you can get creative in the kitchen together coming up with new spice combinations to try.

I hope you guys are enjoying some sunshine for me.

much love.

Flowers in the Snow

Hey Party Peeps! Look at me, I am finally taking photos outside again. I mean, I am just standing on my balcony but it is outside. It was a balmy 5C degrees out today!
I love this dress, so much. I think it is super flattering, especially since I have a fair bit of hips to me. However, I feel like this outfit is so uninspired. There is no real pizzazz to this outfit, no edge. I am looking into ways to improve it. But it was suitable for work.

Dress- Suzy Shier
Cardigan- Old Navy
Ring- Thrifted
Necklace- Black Apple

I added this last shot because I thought it was a little ridiculous to be outside in my bare feet right next to the snow. But I out right refuse to wear socks anymore, I am just so tired of those little feet prisons.

Anyone else hate socks? I can’t be alone in this.

much love.

Playing Catch Up

Hello Friends! I feel like I am perpetually apologizing for my inconsistent blogging. But here is another I’m sorry for neglecting my blog. However, I have been super busy! And I thought I would put up a little photo diary post of what I have been doing the last month.

These cold winter months just call for lots of reading, so I have been diving into great reads just as Mindy Kaling’s Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? and Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms. And I have been working on sketching some dress designs, I hope to start selling my own designs in my shop by the end of the year.

On Valentine’s Day I made a heart shaped brownies (all thanks to my Ma) for the Hubster’s class.

We have taken in a stray dog (Rocky) from our neighborhood because she was limping around on her front leg and the temperatures were getting down to -51 degrees Celsius. She’s only staying with us until she heals up, then we hope to find her a  permanent home, even though she does fit in here with the family perfectly.

I have been slowly working on new pieces for my shop. I hope to have some great, sunny colored items for spring.

I have been experimenting with nude makeup. I have always been into super red lips and (well I can be honest) over done eye shadow. But lately I have done away with eye shadow, toned down the bright red lips and started adding a touch of blush. I love the effortless look, although I can promise you the red lips will be back.

I have been watching the gorgeous snow pile up outside my window.

And the hubster and I have been out and about enjoying this wonderful winter in our new town. We’ve built a mitchuap, gone to see his school kids play hockey and broomball, attended some great parties and jam sessions, and met a lot of cool people.

Also, I got the opportunity to work for Special Education Services at the school for a week. Something I hope to pursue more in the future.

What have you guys been up to? Tell me how you are getting through the winter months.

much love.

Wishful Dressing

This is my I-Wish-It-Was-Spring outfit. Even though I love where I am living right now, like I love it. This place is so magical. However, the last couple of days I have been longing for warmer days. So, it has been a little bit warmer (-8 degrees) the last couple of days so I have been wishful dressing like it was a lot warmer. I should probably cut it out before I get sick…

Dress H&M, Boots Gifted, Leather Jacket Thrifted, Bag Aldo, Sunglasses Old Navy, Belt Vintage, Infinity Scarf Joe Fresh (for $2!!)

Before I go I must gush about how much I love this scarf. Seriously, it’s so big and plushy, it keeps me so warm and makes an excellent hood too.

And I should mention how much fun Minigo and I had outside in the snow.

Hope y’all had an excellent day.

much love.

A Rare Opportunity

I was lucky today because it was an unseasonably warm out today only -17 degrees Celsius, compared to the typical -35 it has been lately. So I hopped at this chance and took some photos outside, which we all know look a hundred times better than inside photos. Sadly, most of my photos from here on out will be unflattering inside photos.

This outfit was brought to you by: Dress Suzy Shier, Boots Gift, Sunnies Old Navy, Coat Majora and Seal Skin Gloves by a local woman.

This is not my usual winter coat because frankly it is not warm enough, but on these sunny days I do enjoy taking it out for a spin. It has the most versatile and unusual collar/hood thing. Plus, I am really loving the all black in winter time because I feel it shows off my alabaster skin (yes alabaster, not pasty pale).

much love.

P.S. Later this week the Hubster has agreed to do an outfit post with his classy but warm outdoor gear.

Hello Lovelies! Most people I know are still living in the land of fall, I am currently living in the land of perpetual snow (it has literally been snowing for almost 15 days straight). Everyday I get dressed I have to think about how warm I can possibly make my outfit, which of course means I need an amazing hat. So, since I have been wearing so many hats, I thought I would share what I have learned in:
Roxie’s Guide to Hats
The ClocheThis hat was invented in the early 1900’s and is typically made of felt (wool). They were very popular among flappers, but in the last year or so have made a mainstream comeback and can be purchased at almost any clothing store (I got mine at Old Navy for about $17). These hats are super classy but I have to admit not overly warm.
In my opinion this hat looks best with curly locks, I find that it seems to drag your face down if you wear it with straight hair. Typically this hat was meant to be worn by women with short hair and I do feel like it suits short haired women the best. As far as face shape it works best with a heart shape face, but I find most women can pull it off given the right hairstyle and outfit. However, if you have an oblong face it can make you look very round.
Stay tuned for more hat tidbits and factoids.
much love.
